The Most Expensive Blog (The home of the most expensive & luxury things in the world) presents World’s most expensive tiara.

A dazzling tiara featuring emeralds believed to have belonged to Eugenie, wife of Napoleon III, sold for a record 11.28 million Swiss francs ($12.80 million) to an anonymous buyer at Sotheby’s.

The diamond and emerald tiara was commissioned by German prince Guido Henckel von Donnersmarck’s for his second wife Katharina.

It was top lot at a sale that netted 78.9 million Swiss francs, third highest for a jewellery sale, the auction house said.

“It is needless to say a world record price at auction for a tiara,” said David Bennett, chairman of Sotheby’s Europe and Middle East jewellery department.

The previous record is for the tiara mounting the Shizuka Diamond (101.27 carats), which was sold by Christie’s Hong Kong for $6.2 million in May 2008.

The Most Expensive Blog (The home of the most expensive & luxury things in the world) presents Video games collection sells on eBay for $1.2 million.

A French video game collector just sold a collection of thousands of video games on eBay for more than $1.2 million.

The collection includes every video game for many of Nintendo’s consoles, every video game for every single Sega console and also for lesser-known game consoles. In total, the collection includes 22 full sets with about 7,000 video games.

The seller says he took exceptionally good care of his precious games. All are factory-sealed with original boxes and instructions. Many of the games have never been opened or played. He even kept the boxes away from direct sunlight.

The efforts seem to have paid off, as a buyer from Canada has purchased the lot for the asking price of 999,999 euro (around $1.23m) for this jaw-dropping collection.

The Most Expensive Blog (The home of the most expensive & luxury things in the world) presents First Apple computer fetches $374,000.

A rare surviving first model of the Apple computer — a stripped down, clunky device that bears no resemblance to today’s sleek gadgets — sold for $374,000 at auction in New York on Friday.

The price was more than double the pre-sale estimate, reflecting a two-way bidding war eventually won by an anonymous telephone bidder, Sotheby’s said.

The Apple I computer was created by Apple co-founders Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs and sold in 1976 at the birth of Jobs’s career as the world’s computer design guru.

The model auctioned in New York is believed to be one of six of the less than 50 surviving that still works.

The Most Expensive Blog (The home of the most expensive & luxury things in the world) presents Rare golden snapper sells for $38,000 in Bangladesh.

A Chinese businessman paid $38,000 for a rare golden snapper Thursday in the Bangladeshi port city of Chittagong, a leading fish trader said.

The unidentified Chinese businessman from Hong Kong bought the 37-kilogram (82-pound) fish “for its tasty bladder and succulent flesh”, Jahangir Saudagar, who sold the fish, told AFP.

Saudagar, who works at the Fishery Ghat market near Chittagong port, had bought the snapper from fishermen returning from the Bay of Bengal late on Wednesday.

He purchased the fish at an auction, beating out at least 500 other traders.

“I continued to bid until everyone else gave up because I knew I could sell this fish at (a high) price. In the end, I sold it for 3.05 million taka ($38,000),” Saudagar said.

Zoology professor Noman Siddiqui of the Marine Fisheries Academy in Chittagong said the golden colour of the snapper — usually red or silver — was the reason it commanded a high price.

Only “three or four golden snappers are caught in the Bay of Bengal” every year, Siddiqui told AFP. In some Asian cultures, snapper meat is considered a delicacy.

The Most Expensive Blog (The home of the most expensive & luxury things in the world) presents Chinese Buyer Pays $328000 for a Pigeon.

A Chinese shipping magnate has paid a world record-high $328,000 for a Dutch pigeon, according to PIPA, an international pigeon auction house.

The buyer of the most-expensive pigeon on record, PIPA said, is Hu Zhen Yu, who runs a shipbuilding company in China.

He bought the bird for breeding rather than racing in China, where pigeon fancying is a fast growing sport and big business.

The bird was auctioned off in a group of 245 pigeons on the Belgian website Pigeon Paradise. The auction total take of $2.5 million was also a record.

Pigeon racing has a long and storied history in Western Europe. The sport dates back to the Romans and Charlemagne, who made pigeon-raising the exclusive privilege of nobles.

In today’s races, pigeons are launched hundreds of miles from their home, or “loft.” The first birds back win the race.

The sport has taken off in Asia, and especially China, which loves any kind of race that creates a betting opportunity.

The Most Expensive Blog (The home of the most expensive & luxury things in the world) presents Single tuna fetches record $736k at Japan auction.

A deep-pocketed restaurateur shelled out nearly $750,000 for a tuna at Japan’s Tsukiji fish market on Thursday, smashing the record price for a single bluefin.

The 269-kilogramme fish stood at an eye-popping 56.49 million yen ($736,500) when the hammer came down in the first auction of the year.

The figure dwarfs the previous high of 32.49 million yen paid at last year’s inaugural auction at Tsukiji, a huge working market in Tokyo.

Thursday’s winning bidder was Kiyoshi Kimura, president of the company that runs the popular Sushi-Zanmai chain.

At around 210,000 yen per kilogramme, a single slice of sushi could cost as much as 5,000 yen, but the firm plans to sell it at a more regular price of up to 418 yen.

“The flesh is coloured in magnificent red and the quality of fat is very good,” Kimura said. “It is very delicious. The taste is unbeatable.”

Japan consumes three-quarters of the global catch of bluefin, a highly prized sushi ingredient known in Japan as “kuro maguro” (black tuna).

Decades of overfishing have seen global tuna stocks crash, leading some Western nations to call for a ban on catching endangered Atlantic bluefin tuna.

The Most Expensive Blog (The home of the most expensive & luxury things in the world) presents Roger Vivier Buys Most Expensive Shoe.

In an amusingly ironic twist, Roger Vivier, one of the fashion industry's giants, has bought the world's most expensive shoe - an original pair designed by Monsieur Vivier himself. The damage? A cool US$26,629.06, making it one for the books.

The French luxury accessories and footwear label bought the vintage pair, which was designed and constructed in 1962 for Princess Soraya, the widow of the late Shah of Iran. The House acquired the shoes at an auction of Roger Vivier’s personal trove on November 30.

The world's most expensive shoes are low heeled silver threaded embroidered pumps encrusted with topaz. The shoe sale is part of ongoing efforts by the French Shoe Federation, the French State and the current Roger Vivier generation of leaders - Tod’s owner Diego della Valle, Artistic director Bruno Frisoni and brand ambassador Ines de la Fressange - to safekeep shoes from Roger Vivier's extensive personal archive.

The Most Expensive Blog (The home of the most expensive & luxury things in the world) presents The Andreas Gursky 'Rhein II' is the World's Most Expensive Picture.

The Andreas Gursky ‘Rhein II’ photograph recently sold at a Christie’s auction for a record $4.3 million, beating the previous record of $3.8 million.

The Andreas Gursky ‘Rhein II’ picture is worth more than a thousand words. In fact, it is worth more than $4.3 million, not too shabby for an extremely minimalist (and somewhat boring) landscape shot. The German born photographer is well known for his architecture and landscape color photographs. Surprisingly, Gursky is no stranger to selling multimillion dollar photographs. At a Sotheby’s London auction in 2007, a Gursky photograph fetched a whopping $3.3 million, which was a world record at the time.

Safe to say Gursky will be financially stable as long as collectors keep shelling out millions for his work.
